Welcome To Fulham Lofts
If your home has three floors, fire safety rules hit harder than they do for a two-storey house. The risk is higher, and the law expects more. So if you’re adding a loft, you’ll need to make proper allowances for escape routes and safety.
There are four main areas to look at when it comes to fire safety in a house like this.
1.
Smoke detectors must be present and regularly tested.
2.
There must be a viable means of escape in the event of a fire.
3.
Fire spread – how likely is a fire to spread, depending on the combustibility of the home.
4.
External risk of a fire spreading.
Every building has to meet certain standards. That’s not a suggestion — it’s the law. Materials must be right for the job, and the structure needs to hold up under scrutiny. That includes things like stair access, insulation, air flow, and the party wall with next door. It all matters — and it’s all checked.
Fire safety isn’t something we tick off a list. We treat it with the same weight as building control. Our record speaks for itself — we don’t cut corners. Our team keeps a close eye on every stage of the build to make sure safety checks don’t just meet the rules, but beat them.
When it comes to sign-off, there are two routes: building notice or full plans. We go with full plans. That way, when the job’s done, you get a completion certificate — something any future buyer will expect. Skip that, and it could cost you thousands down the line.
We don’t see fire safety or legal checks as ‘extras’. They’re part of the job. And we know this part inside out. That knowledge? It’s built into every loft we have completed.
Got an idea for a loft conversion, but not sure where to start? That’s fine. We’re happy to take a look at the space, and have a chat. No pressure. Just tell us your ideas, and we’ll take it from there. Once we’ve seen the layout and heard your plans, we’ll give you a free quote — no strings, no sales pitch.
